The Lithuanian Arabian Horse Association is very pleased to announce that the winner of
their WAHO Trophy 2023 is the 18-year old grey mare, SEVANA.
SEVANA receives this award in recognition of her remarkable contributions to Arabian horse
breeding in Lithuania. Bred by Vilnius State Stud from their finest foundation lines, this
outstanding broodmare produced many excellent foals for the State Stud and was later
acquired by private breeders.
Several of her descendants have performed well internationally. Noteworthy among them are
her 2015 daughter Selena, who has shown promising results in endurance competitions in
Finland. Her grey son Sidas, born in 2019, has already excelled in novice endurance events in Lithuania with 3 wins and several high placings. Her strongly built grey colt Super, born in 2021, is also showing potential. And this year, her new owner was delighted to welcome her latest foal, a grey colt named Altinsehir Saule.
SEVANA embodies a spirited temperament and remarkable energy, she not only has good athletic bloodlines, but also excellent type, movement and conformation which she passes on to her descendants. Both sides of her exceptional pedigree contain some of the most famous names in Arabian breeding from early Polish and Russian lines with a touch of Egyptian from Aswan. It is also worth noting that both her sire Abatas and grandsire Bosas are previous WAHO Trophy winners in Lithuania.
Despite her age, she continues to produce high-quality foals and it is hoped she will do so for more years to come, as her legacy and heritage in preserving and continuing the best lines of Lithuanian-bred Arabians is very important to the breeders and owners in Lithuania.
