FIOLEK, Grey stallion, *1986 (Zacateco / Rijeka).
Owner and breeder: Doña Teresa de Borbon of the Flor de Lis Stud.
Strain: Managhi Sbeyli (Beni Kaled, 1918).
After the unanimous choice of Zacateco in 2005, Spain has changed its method of selection to a points system, taking into account Show and Sports results of both the nominee and of his most successful offspring.
In 2006, the Spanish Breed Association, AECCA, was pleased to announce that the clear winner of the WAHO Trophy was FIOLEK, born in 1986.
Son of the previous year’s winner Zacateco and the mare Rijeka ( Vasallo x Nevisca), Fiolek is owned and bred by Doña Teresa de Borbon of the Flor de Lis Stud. He is a wonderful mover whose gentle nature makes him a pleasure to ride and he has competed successfully in Cross country competitions and flat racing, as well as becoming National Reserve Champion in hand. But above all, he possesses what all breeders look for when selecting a stallion – that his offspring are even better than he is!
Some of his better known get are :-
Lobeke, who is, among other things, Netherlands National in hand Champion, Top 10 in the World Championship in Paris and winner of the Dutch Open Eventing Championship; Obelisco, with excellent results in Show, Flat racing and Endurance; Pikara, excelling in Show and Eventing; and many others, all with their fathers´ strong movement and tremendous heart in all they undertake.
