CHAFIYEH – 2023 WAHO Trophy Winner – Iran

CHAFIYEH.  Grey Mare, 2000.  (Hoom Hosseini II / Saadeh Torfayeh),  Breeder:  Sheikh Nezam Moavi.  Owner:  Haji Rzagh Moavi.  Strain: Seglawieh Jedranieh Zaireh (Um Chenineh)

Our Trophy winner for 2023 is the pure Iranian grey mare, Chafiyeh, now 25 years old. The Moavi family, living in Khusistan, have been famous for owning and breeding horses from this Saglawi Jadran strain for more than 70 years.  Their first mare Um Chenineh was gifted to Sheikh Nezam Moavi, the great great grandfather of the current breeder.

Chafiyeh has a well established pedigree, she represents the 7th generation of this strain.  She was awarded the WAHO Trophy in honour of her earlier successes in endurance events, and then for fulfilling her duties as a broodmare, leaving a beautiful filly & two colts.

Her daughter has inherited the same determination in winning long distance rides.

Chafiyeh represents one of our oldest pure Iranian pedigrees. We are happy to have nominated her.

The WAHO Trophy was presented to Chafiyeh, resplendent in her traditional rug, and her proud owner during a public ceremony at the racetrack in Khusistan.
