REPORT MADE AT THE 2019 WAHO CONFERENCE:
Abdullah Albraihi, Kuwait: Thank you. Mr. President, Executive Committee Members, Delegates and distinguished guests. I am Abdullah Albraihi, Manager of the Kuwait Arabian Horse Registry since 1996. Next to me is Mr. Nasser Bourissli, my assistant who joined the registry in 2014.
Our statistics for 2018: we have registered 1,334 foals – 648 colts and 696 fillies, 86 imports and 77 exports. The total registered horses in 2018 was 1,431. The registration number of purebred Arabian horses reached 10,500 now, with 8,500 living Arabians in Kuwait.
We have 24 Arabian races for the horses born and bred in Kuwait sponsored by the Arabian Horse Centre to encourage breeding in Kuwait, and 9 races open to all Arabians. We have 5 shows, 4 of them are organised by the Arabian Horse Centre and one by the private breeders. For endurance races, the Arabian Horse Centre plays a great role in the educational part by setting courses for judging, handlers and grooms, lectures in horse diseases and methods of prevention of disease, feeding and the historical side of the Arabian horse. The Newsletter is issued every three months with a version in Arabic and a version in English. Thank you very much.
REPORT MADE AT 2017 WAHO CONFERENCE:
Abdullah Albraihi, Kuwait: Mr. President, Mr. Vice-President, Executive Committee members, Delegates and distinguished guests. I am Abdullah Albraihi the Manager of the Kuwait Arabian Horse registry, seated next to me is my Assistant in the Registry, Mr. Nasser Bourisli.
Kuwait has been a full member of WAHO since 1996, we started with volume 1 of our stud book with a total of 26 horses. Now by the end of 2016, the registration number has reached 8,000. The last printed stud book is volume 6, printed in 2013. We are working on a new database which very soon will be online. In 2015, we registered 750 foals, exported 18 and imported 315. We allow artificial insemination and embryo transfer with multiple foal registration, and we allow the export and import of semen. In 2016 so far, we registered 1000 foals, there is a mistake in the brochure we distributed in which it says 750, it should be 1000 foals. We had 280 imported horses and 60 exported in 2016.
The Registry participates in the organisation of two International shows and two National shows per year. In racing, flat racing, we have at the Hunting and Equestrian Club a total of 17 Arabian races, 10 of them for horses born in Kuwait and 5 of them for straight Egyptian horses. In endurance racing, we have four competitions per season. Thank you very much.
REPORT MADE AT 2014 WAHO CONFERENCE:
Mr. Abdullah Albraihi, Kuwait: Mr. President, members of the Executive Committee, fellow Delegates and distinguished guests. My name is Abdullah Albraihi, the Manager of the Kuwait Arabian Horse Registry. I would like to thank the organizing committee for hosting this Conference in Qatar.
Our current Stud book is Volume 6, which covers the year 2010. Volumes 7 and 8 will be printed soon. We have experienced a significant increase in the number of registered Arabians from 2011 to 2013. In 2011 we imported 292 horses, in 2012 we imported 331, and in 2013 we imported 376. The number of foals registered increased from 297 in the year 2011, to 387 in the year 2012, and to 504 in the year 2013. I think the increase is due to the shows we have started running since 2010. We organized two shows a year until 2013, and in 2014 there were three shows, two organized by the Hunting and Equestrian Club, which is the WAHO Registering Authority Member, and one by private breeders.
The Arabian Horse Centre, which is a State Stud, we call it Bait Al Arab, started issuing a newsletter since 2010, this covers many subjects about the Arabian horse, including its history, news, clinical subjects etc. We also run seminars. All this helps educate newcomers to the Arabian horse breed. The estimated number of living Arabian horses in Kuwait is now around 5,000. Thank you very much for your kind attention.

Mr. President, I know that WAHO considers the Registering Authority Members equally, no matter how big the country, or how many horses they have, but I would like to say that I am very pleased that AHA is back with WAHO, especially if you know that since 1908 they worked to preserve, safeguard and promote the purebred Arabians, and they still do. So welcome back, AHA.
Finally I would like to wish everyone a successful, educational and productive Conference and good times in Oman. Thank you.
